The Client:
Rudy and his wife, Corinne, have lived in Yarrow their entire married life. Along with their four children, they have enjoyed their home on Devon Avenue for many years. In 2016, as they embarked on a major home renovation, they wanted to make sure that their septic system was keeping up with the demands of their family.
As a certified Water Operator for Yarrow Water, Rudy understood the critical importance of water safety and the relevant concerns of septic systems in a place like Yarrow where the water table sits very close to the surface of the land.
He expected that his current system would require upgrades, though he did not know how extensive the work would be. Rudy wanted a professional assessment from a company that understood the unique challenges of his property and specialized in septic system repair.

He was also aware that, since the village of Yarrow was not serviced by the City of Chilliwack sewer system, that any changes to his septic system would fall under the provincial regulations of the Public Health Act. Considering all of those factors, Rudy called Redline Excavating for specialized assistance.
“Mike installed our septic system in the fall of 2015. It was done very professionally with an engineer to design the system to suit our specific soil and yard space. Mike worked at our place each day until it was done, no days of not showing up and leaving us wondering. He explained to us how the system works and how to maintain it. We’ve had the system for eight years now and have not had to call Mike once. We have not had any issues with our septic system at all. We would 100% recommend Mike to any and all of our Yarrow friends and family.”

The Challenge: Septic System Repair
Since every property is unique, as well as every household and residence, therefore every septic system requires a unique assessment. After Redline conducted a thorough hydrogeological assessment of the property, as well as an appraisal of Rudy’s old septic system, several recommendations were made.
First, although it was deemed that more volume would be required to meet the home’s increased demands, it was established that some of the existing system could be utilized while adding key new components. Second, although a new pressurized septic field would need to be added, it would be possible to design a system that would function effectively at the same level of the existing lawn in the backyard. This meant that there would be very limited visual differences from before and after the system was upgraded.
The Solution:
With Rudy’s approval, Redline’s engineer designed a new septic system that utilized the old tank while adding another tank to accommodate the extra volume required. The design was then submitted to the health authority and stamped by them and returned so that work could proceed.
Redline went to work on Rudy’s property and installed the new system according to design. All necessary excavating was done to install both the secondary tank and a new pressurized septic field with minimal disruption to the existing landscape of the property.
Upon completion of the work the engineer submitted a letter of certification to the health authority showing all work was done correctly and fulfilled the requirements of the Public Health Act.

Ultimately, Rudy was left feeling confident that the new septic system not only ensured the wellbeing of his family, but also contributed to the health and safety of the community.
In 2024, more than eight years after their septic system repair by Redline, the owners, Rudy and Corinne, wrote this statement: “Mike installed our septic system in the fall of 2015.
